Title: IBS & Menstruation
Member ID: GUEST
I find that there is a connection between the onset of my IBS and the
monthly cycle of menstruation. Am I alone in this? Is it feasible that
the colonic spasms and menstruation can be affected by each other? Help!
Is it necessary to have a colonoscopy to be sure I have only IBS? My doctor
told me it wasn't necessary. But sometimes, exspecially when I have diarrhea
I think I have something terrible like cancer!

Title: HELP IN GIVING UP LAXITIVES
Member ID: RON48
I have a chronic constipation problem with my irritible bowel.
I would love to get off laxatives to help me go and become more
natural. I take all kinds of herbs and teas to go. Could some-
one have suggestions on how to do this? It would be most helpful
to me and I'm sure other people as well. Susan

Yes, I have found that there is is link between an increase
in IBS symptoms and menstruation. Before I suffered IBS
symtoms I also did not suffer painful or difficult periods.
Now, I find that I get headaches, cramps, tiredness and
other menstrual discomforts and pms symptoms that are common
but I did not suffer before.

Title: IBS & Endometriosis

I am a 39 year old woman who has had a hysterectomy for
severe endometriosis. I have a lot of IBS symptoms and have been
diagnosed as such by a gastroenterologist. I was just wondering if in
your experience you see a lot of "endo" women also with IBS or symptoms
thereof. Are there any of you out there? One wonders if the symptoms are
really just a continuation of endo (which can invade the bowel) or if
IBS is acting in combination with endo. Any thoughts to be shared?

Title: Unusual IBS symptoms?
Member ID: SHE49
I have one symptom that my Doctor feels is unusual in IBS.
If I don't eat for 3-4 hours I get terrible bloating (starts all of
a sudden) and pain and it lasts for hours unless I eat. (Usually that
helps but if I waited too long before eating, then it won't help).
I suffered from a Helicobacter infection 18 months ago and was treated
The breathing test that I took about six months ago came out negative.
I still I feel that ever since then I have had some problems related
to eating.
My main symptoms are excess gas and food intolerance to tomatoes, corn
and bread, unless it has been toasted. I have avoided these things for months
and although I feel better it is still a problem. The bloating is especially
a problem.
Can anyone share any information about this?

Title: IBS and menstral cycle

I had a barium enema a few days and the next day I started
my menstral flow (five days early). It is quite heavy and
painful this time. Has anyone else experienced this?
Perhaps the preparation (those laxitives and enema) was
a little to hard on the old intestines and started a flare-
up but I'm not sure why it should have affected my cycle
in this manner.

Does anybody know if there is a link between allergies and IBS? In particular, I am wondering why it seems to be that people can tell when I am having IBS symptoms because of the sudden "black circles around the eyes" I apparently develop.

Title: End IBS
Member ID: GUEST
A dietary supplement that I have been taking could help IBS.
It's rich in micro organisms that seem to be lacking in our foods
today with pesticides, preservatives, herbicides, etc.
Perhaps their is some micro organisms that are suppose to
be in our food and they are killed along the way. If you
could replace them, then that might help people who suffer
from IBS.
