Foods that disagree

Posted by emmaw , 28 January 2011 · 32 views

Hi I suffer from ibs d&c.  Does anybody find that certain food trigger their symptoms more than others.  I love spicy food, like curries and chillis and know that after eating these i am going to suffer with pains the next day.  I also find that onions, peppers, brocolli, mashed potato, baked beans and similar food affect me, all of which i like.

Can anybody else relate to this?

The onions, broccoli and beans are all wind producing, which is why you probably suffer after these foods. Honestly try keeping the food diary and you'll be amazed at how you can pinpoint which foods to avoid. If onions and broccoli annoy you, you could substitute with mushrooms and courgettes, these don't seem to upset too many people.

Hope that helps a bit,

Em :)

Mashed potatoes are often made with dairy, including butter and milk. For me dairy is one of my main triggers, try avoiding dairy for a while and see how that goes!
