Help needed for long trip

Dear all, because of the stress iv been going through my brother has asked me to come and see him for a while who lives in the US.
I didnt wanna say no again and thought that its better to get out listen to the few comments and hope that it will all be ok.(of course it wont but its better than sitting at home rotting i guess)
Anyway I was just hoping if you can provide me with any information as per your experience when it comes to outings or long distance trips.(2 planes needed to get to the US other than the ours waiting in an airport)
Anything that I can buy?(charcoal underwear?? does it really help for the gas) Shall I not eat anything for a couple of days?
