IBS TO PROLAPSE RECTUM

Posted by knesko , 09 May 2012 · 94 views

I started off on this journey with simple IBS. I have since had 2 surgeries for prolapsed rectum. Last week my colo-rectal surgeon informed me that I have redundant-dilated colon. He then made a suggestion that made my head spin.

I had prepared myself for the realization that. because my rectum was prolapsed again, I would need another colon resecection. What the surgeon said instead was, I should get a PERMANENT colostomy.

I don't know what to do now. I have to a have a gastograffin enema tomorrow and next week I am expected to tell him what I have choosen to do. How can I make that decision? I am only 46 years old. All the information I have read, says, make sure you have good body image (which I don't) you should be in a relationship (which I'm not).
