The 5 Worst Things About IBS

The following are, in my opinion, the worst things about IBS aside from the symptoms themselves:
1. IBS is not even a true diagnosis. From my experience, it is just what the doctors tell you that you have when they don't want to take the time to actually help you figure out what is wrong.
2. There is a lack of true, helpful information out there for IBS sufferers. We've all heard the same thing: change your diet, reduce your stress, exercise. But what happens when you've done all that and your symptoms only worsen? Where are the real answers?
3. Medications that are supposed to help with IBS symptoms often produce side effects that aggravate existing symptoms or produce new ones that are just as terrible.
4. No one takes you or your symptoms seriously. Many times it seems like no one else truly understands what you are going through.
5. IBS robs you of a peaceful, "normal" quality of life. I constantly worry about no being able to finish school, not being able to work, not being able to have a social life and not looking forward to the future. It can be hard to remain positive when there is no end in sight.

I've had endless days of panic attacks based around going to work or leaving the house. People don't realise how badly it affects some people.
All I can think about is when I get married and have kids, how will my kids react to me not eating when we go out for the day?
I'm envious of people on the tv or people walkign around town eating a sandwich.
If you ever need to talk i'm here. I'd love to know how you're getting on and if anything has benefitted you at all?
I've been put onto 2 tablets and neither have worked. I've even dropped out of university because of IBS.
Be well
