New to IBS

Posted by Misery84, Oct 4 2009, 12:11 PM

Hi, Im 25 years old and was just told by my doctor that I have IBS. He gave me medication and sent me on my way. However, the medication did not work, and based on all the info that I have read about IBS.....its just not that easy to solve..take a pill and u'll be fine. HA! My symptoms are actually way worse! So I am getting a new doctor, but in the meantime, I am trying to figure out other ways to deal. I cant figure out any trigger foods.....I have taken certain things that I thought bothered me out of my diet and then re-introduced them again a few days later and didnt have the same result. So I dont think its certain foods that trigger my "sickness". I suffer terrible stomache pains, very sharp pains that are so bad that I get really hot and almost dizzy like I am going to pass out. Bad diarreah......uugghhhh......and the urgency to go. I dont leave my house...unless its to go to work. And somethimes I dont even make it there. I wake up in the morning and the first thing I feel is those pains in my stomache, and thats how the rest of day is. I am starting to get scared b/c it just keeps on getting worse and worse and I have no control. I am not an emotional person and I dont like to cry, and I balled my eyes out the past few days b/c I feel so alone and out of luck with the situation. I am at a loss of what to do as I wait for the day of my doctor appointment to come....

hey i was only diagnosed a few months ago and iv had so many tests, and been on soo many medications (including an antidepressant, and a laxitive, even though i told my doc that i dont need laxitives...), it will take time! and i know how you feel, its totally ruined life as i know it, and my sister sees my constant need to visit the loo as something im doing on purpose (gods sake, youv just been! cant we go into this shop now???) so as a result, im also quite isolated. its stopped me dating, and doing simple things like goin out one night, or shopping with friends. everything i do now, i do alone, so i have the freedom to visit the loo and eat (or not) as i wish!

Hi I'm too just recently been diagnosed with IBS. I have had every test known to man and still everything seems normal except low vitamin B12. Sometimes the pain is so bad its like being in labour, I discovered hard cheese seems to make it worse, but it comes and goes as it pleases.

All I would like is to be able to go out without having to work myself up that i'm going to be feeling ill and can't go. Sometimes i just need to sit on the loo for 2 hours but you can't do that on a palne or when your out. I feel its very restricting but I have now decided to be proactive and start a food diary and have ordered a book on what helps ie food combinations.

I do feel better talking about it and I need to get my confidence up in order to go out with the girls again.

Just wondering if like me your syptoms were brought on after a stomach infection.

Hi everyone. I used to struggle with IBS and Ulcerative Colitis but have been able to control my digestive issues with diet and lifestyle. You can check out my website at www.peninabareket.com or contact me at peninabareket@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to learn more.
