Please remember this is a group of folks seeking support on how to live with and manage IBS. THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN THOUGHTS. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERT OPINION, ASK A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

Hi Jeff and EveryoneThank you so much for posting this, I just called Prometheus and will be receiving their "coupon/card" in the mail for the Lotronex prescription savings as aforementioned. Like others, I wonder how anyone without insurance coverage could ever afford this much needed medication. Even with insurance, the copay is mighty pricey. (I used to have Group health insurance with low copay, but now I don't and the copay is considerably higher), so this coupon savings (which is good for 12 uses) is excellent bargain. Incidentally, Prometheus mentioned that this savings program will continue through next year 2010, thereafter they anticipate another savings program to take its place. I sure hope so, in the event, anyone becomes uninsured or financially strappedany savings amt could help. Take care everyone. Lisa K

I did remember that I had received a discount card from my Gastro doctor for Lotronex. The coupon is for $ 250 off. But, that still isnt enough considering the total cost for a month's supply is $ 900. Some people may be able to afford $ 650 a month for meds - but, I'm on SS. I only get $ 950 a month and I cant use $ 650 of it for one med. I guess its all about money - as usual.

Amanda I don't know if this organization might be able to help you. But it might be worth looking into:http://www.pparx.org/

Thanks again. But, Lotronex is not on their list for assistance.

So Sorry I know this is awful for you. I suppose you have given the Calcium Carbonate, Questran or Colestid & Immodium good tries before resorting to the Lotro??

I've tried it all...haha..!! Motofen works well for me and probably doesnt have the same probs as Lotronex. It will soon be back on the market and I can get it for $ 10 a month, unless they raise the price. I guess Lotronex will be high-priced until a generic is allowed. I did find it online at a Canadian pharm, but its still$ 225 a month. (but thats better than $ 900).
