Alrighty brahs

Would like to know how you can relief bloating and abdominal pain with dietary changes... My doc told me to remove fibers in May and both pain, bloating and constatipation has gone down some. I'm still not healthy and i've had IBS since kindergarten but i haven't really played around with food choices or macro ratios to help relief IBS, so i figured if some of you guys could give me some tips or pointers.

Besides IBS i have some other problems as well. My doc thinks the leakage of moist from my angus is because of nerve damage, and i'm waiting to get summoned to one of the hospitals that got the testing equipment for it... Also got some hemorrhoids since i've strained myself all my life that i'm probably gonna get surgery for.

I feel that one can always improve their diet, so please give me some advice

Current diet in terms of kcals and macros

3300kcal
240 protein
330 carbs
110 fats

^^^^ roughly, i weigh all my food since i'm a bodybuilding/health enthusiast

I did get complete relief for bloating and cramping (and D) with diet. After 10 years with IBS, I wasn't feeling anymore that I actually had a gut (which was a constant reminder before, just like you would if you had a broken arm). However, I didn't cut down fiber. I cut down complex carbs, which are not digestable by human stomachs, but they are for gut bacteria that overgrow feasting on them. Fiber on the other hand, nobody can really digest that, so it's no harm really, IMHO.

Thanks for the input. I've been doing keto diets(very low carb) for a couple of past cutting cycles but i didn't notice any difference in IBS symptoms

I'm following a mix of the SCD and Paleo diets (Paleo + SCD's special yogurt), and I saw relief within 3 days. I've read that some people do after 3 weeks, some after 3 months. I only eat meat, fish, eggs, veggies (no grains, no tubers, no legumes), fruits, nuts, raw honey, and SCD's probiotic yoghurt (and occasionally some lactose-free hard cheeses). I have to cook all my meals, since there are very few products out there without milk, wheat, corn, soy or sugar.

Do you (or anyone else that wants to chime in) think that olive oil could be a trigger? My first meal of the day is cottage cheese mixed with kefir yoghurt and zero kcal soft drink which basically turns into flavored yoghurt, and two tablespoons of olive oil. It's usually after this meal my stomach $$$$$$s up the most and i feel the most pain in my lower abdomen, but maybe that could be due to the high lactose content of all the dairy in that meal. I reckon i could try going lactose free again, but i've done so in the past and i don't recall feeling much better. My doc told me in May i could try low fat for a few weeks, but i never did... I reckon i could try it, but replacing all those fat calories with carbohydrates is gonna be a drag and i don't wanna drop overall calories because that will hinder my muscle gains

I don't believe olive oil was the trigger, although you can never known 100%. Here's my theory:
- Cottage cheese is not a hard cheese, therefore it's full of lactose (which is a complex sugar that our stomachs can't digest). Its galactose is digestable.
- Kefir yoghurt has the same properties as cottage cheese in terms of its two sugars.
- 0 cal soft drinks contain complex artificial sugars that our stomach's can't digest either.
- Extra-virgin olive oil is the most digestible of the edible fats, and it's the only ingredient in your list that is almost 100% digestable.

When food is not digested, it ends up in the gut, where bacteria & yeast feast on. According to research in the last 10 years, there is coloration between IBS and SIBO. For constipation in particular, the theory goes that yeast overgrowth creates mucus, which is what keeps the stools inside. Diet can limit yeast overgrowth by starving them out. Just stop eating the things yeasts eat too: starches, sugars, and undigested diary (lactose).

Here's what your breakfast could look like in order to avoid irritating your GI track:
* Lactose-free probiotic plain yogurt. There is at least one such yogurt sold in the US but I have no idea about Sweden. Add a bit of honey, chopped berries, walnuts (if you don't have nut allergies). If you can't find such a yogurt, you can make it yourself (and prefer it to be from goat milk, because its casein is closer to the human milk than cow's, therefore we all have less intolerance towards it): http://www.youtube.c...h?v=oGkrX1Yx1UA
* Fry some mushrooms and chopped parsley in medium heat, beat an egg, pour it on the pan, black pepper, lid until it's done. Sprinkle Parmesan.
* Fry two eggs with two slices of bacon. Serve with berries, and a slice of hard cheese (which you can also fry if you want).
* Mash a ripe banana, beat an egg, mix, fry together. Dilute a bit of raw honey to use as syrup on the "pancake" (no agave or maple syrup).
* Shred a bit of zucchini, and chop a small onion. Fry until transparent. Beat two eggs (with a bit of lactose-free heavy cream if you can find it in your local shops), salt & pepper, fry all, lid, add some Parmesan at the end.

- Use coconut oil or olive oil to fry (not extra virgin for frying, use extra virgin cold-pressed for salads or raw).
- Juice a big orange, add some cold water to dilute it, use the pulp too (fiber). Use that as your morning beverage.
- Alternatively, you can juice an apple if you have an electric juicer, or buy & drink 100% carrot juice (make sure it has nothing else added and it's not from concentrate).

I follow a similar regime for lunch and dinner too as I mentioned on my previous comment. It works great for me so far in terms of having my IBS symptoms almost disappeared (I only had one small flare in the 3 weeks I follow it, which is way better than the previous "standard" 4-5 liquid BMs a day -- I hope to become fully asymptomatic in a few months).

I've had IBS-D for the last two days instead of the regular C, feelsbadman...

Diet is the same, but i've ran out of my fibre supps... maybe that's why?

I'd rather have C and strain myself all the time than this stuff... Last night at the gym i had to abort my hardcore squatting session and go to the nearest bathroom, and my ###### flow like the river nile... Started getting chills and got very very lightheaded (like looking myself in the mirror and moving my body it felt surreal) but i kept grinding

Anyways, i need to fix IBS D because i don't feel comfortable having D since i got nerve damage in my angus if you catch my drift

I got some glutamine at home, worhless supp for building muscle but i've heard it's good for IBS... should i give it a try?

And of course i will restock on my fibre supps

I have had food intolerances done recently, i have been adviced to avoid fish, garlic and yeast for 6 weeks. I have been doing it for 3 days now and i feel great, not one bit of pain. Its hard though as yeast is in a lot of stuff. But i am enjoying trying out different foods. And i am enjoying eating salad again, i always thought that was a trigger food, but obviously not.

You mention fibre.
Make sure it is non soluble fibre such as oats, white rice, white bread and bananas and not the insoluble stuff like Lettuce,Brown Bread,Bran and such as this can make Diarrhoea symptoms much worse.

How long did you try them?
I have been on the low carb diet (but not as extreme as you, <70g carbs a day) for 2 months and I feel cured, it's incredible. But the first week was really hard to get through.
