I agree there must be a link.I was diagnosed with h.pylori. I have IBS D symptoms as well as horrible acid reflux and stomach pains. I had an endoscopy and they found that I had erosion, inflammation and slight ulceration in my stomach. I took three different courses of antibiotics with no real result.. I'm taking Omeprazole now which seems to be helping...Has anyone had h-pylori and ibs and recovered?

I had a stomach ulcer and started getting symptoms of IBS a year ago. I took the triple therapy for 2 weeks to eradicate the h-pylori bacteria. The triple therapy worked, ulcer healed and no more h-pylori. The IBS symptoms got worse and I was finally diagnosed with IBS a few months after the ulcer healed. My doctor was not much help with my IBS so I saw a naturalpathic doctor. The ND was quite helpful, but I had to do a lot of my own research on the internet and ordering some books on IBS. Through a course of managing my diet, taking probiotics and avoiding stress, I am about 90% back to normal before the IBS started. I still have the odd flare up, but it is usually a result of me treating myself to an ice capacino, bag of chips or something else I know triggers the IBS. We take our health for granted and feed it full of #### until one day it tells you it can't take anymore. I consider myself lucky because I can control my IBS symptoms somewhat with my diet and taking probiotics.

I believe so. I have IBS-A which means it alternates between constipation and diarrhea and excessive gas. I started getting h.pylori in 2010 after my first son. It's definitely contagious though because my husband gets it and he doesn't have IBS. But I too wonder if h.pylori can be developed in those who already have digestive issues such as IBS.

Almost same symptoms as you. Took anti biotics for HP and things got much better. But was never really free of IBS.

I won't be surprised if it is. But, I haven't seen any evidence for that.
