Hey,
I'm new here, from the UK, and I'm 15. Basically, I think I may have IBS-C and have been having constipation problems for a couple of years now, on and off. Some weeks my bowel movements can be fine: a week ago I had three in one day, then I've had none since. I haven't been diagnosed with IBS, but I went to the doctor's in July and had a test for Coeliac Disease done, which my dad has, and that came back negative. I've increased my fibre and water intake, with fairly inconsistent results. I seem to have most of the typical IBS symptoms: abdominal pain (though fairly mild and intermittent), bloating, flatulence, predominant constipation (although occasionally the stools are fairly pasty and loose), tiredness, foul-smelling stools (my parents comment on them all the time, as they're that bad). I've needed the toilet at school before but had to hold it off because I was worried about being on the toilet for too long and for it to smell badly.

I'm gonna make an appointment to see a doctor but do you guys think it sounds like IBS-C or could it be something different?

Cheers for any advice you can give,

Jack.

Thanks, will do. Also, my abdominal pain is fairly mild normally, and that's what made me think maybe it's not IBS? Is the stomach pain normally very severe? I do also get a lot of stomach rumbling, which is embarrassing, especially since I'm doing exams at school at the moment.

Ny pain is never severe. It is more of a bloating, cramping pain. I get the tummy rumbles as well, and, yes, it can be embarrasing. Avoiding the toilet at school is something I did as well when I was young. However, I think that withholding stool probably made my constipation a lot worse over the years. I know the circumstances are not ideal, but try to have a bowel movement any time you get the urge, even if you are not at home.
