The feeling didn't go away, my PT said I should go see a GI doc and I did once the insurance from my new job kicked in in December. Between September and December I started a new job, was working two jobs for a while, my baby had to go to daycare for the first time and my other kid's school fired his awesome teacher. So, you could say I was a little bit stressed.
My sensation, I hesitate to call it pain, since it is more of a pressure, is in the upper to middle part of my abdomen. Generally, it is relieved with a BM. Once in a great while I get bloated and crampy.
I went to the GI. He took down about 45 minutes of health history, probed my belly a bit and ordered blood tests and stool samples. All came back negative, so he didn't want to get invasive. He diagnosed me with IBS. After being here I realize I have IBS-C. I regularly take a stool softener and i have those melt under your tongue thingys for pain. Once in a while I supplement with fiber. I am still paranoid I have something else horrible wrong with me (cancer). My brain just works that way.
Still, I feel pretty good otherwise. I function well and exercise. When I am distracted all is good. I also don't have the feeling when I am still, and I sleep pretty good.
From the time I was diagnosed until last week I felt great. No feelings or sensations. Going to the bathroom pretty good. then it all came back. Bummer. At least this calms my nerves about it being something worse, like cancer. Cancer doesn't go away and come back, right?
So, I found this board, which has made me feel better already, and I am going to learn how to deal with it. Right now, I think I will go back to the GI and ask for a colonoscopy just to check it out and make me feel better. Also, I am going to see an acupuncturist/Naturopathic doctor next week.
And as weird as this sounds, a glass or two of red wine usually helps relieve the sensation/feeling and helps me relax and forget it for a while. Good for sleeping, too.
Thanks for reading,
Ella
