I did a search of Xifaxan and there were no discussions. I have had IBS fo more than 40 years and have only had minimal relief from medication. In the fall my new gastroenterologist started me on Xifaxan. It is usually taken for a week to 10 days. I have been on it for about 4 months and I feel like I got my life back. Anyone else take it? Curious on other peoples success and experiences.

We've been discussing it for quite some time, not sure why your search didn't work, although a lot of people use the other name Rifaximin.

It can be fairly expensive and usually people aren't on it for the long term, just for a few weeks then off it again, is your doctor planning on keeping you on it all the time?

It can work well for some people, especially those that have SIBO, but if you don't get tested for that first it can be really hit or miss if it will help.
