probiotics kefir

hi....just started taking kefir to see if its helps my ibs-d.... anyone have any suggestions as to how much i should use and when to take it and when i might expect to see some activity or results. should i be worried about the lactose in kefir.

I would think it would take aLOT of Kefir compared to just taking a probiotic. Why not try a good probiotic instead?
