Hi Guys.

After being diagnosed with IBS on Monday I decided to check out some forums to see what i could do to improve my symptoms. I know that there are no hard or fast rules to this horrible syndrome but after reading all the threads on this forum I don't know now if that is what I am suffering from.

Yes I was getting to the point were I was going to the toilet maybe two or three times in the morning, If I could manage to go.

It all started last November when I started to go to the toilet every morning. I was never that regular, Maybe 3 or 4 times a week and always had to push a little bit to be able to go. It never just fell out of me, and it was never always in the morning. I never knew what it was like to be regular. But I used to be able to go and sit there for a little while till i was empty, but now as I got older I thought my body is changing and obviously it wants to clear out more often, although it wasn't as much. In fact i sit on the loo and once one or two little poops come out i'm up within 30 second as I know nothing else will come out. Sometimes only a little bit comes out but not loose or two hard. Then I started to want to go twice a day sometimes three within half an hour of going, and the second BM sometimes would just sit in the bottom of my bowels and feel heavy. there was no urgency or stimulation to shift it. I had to sit on the toilet and sort of push the back of my lower back against to toilet seat and wriggle a bit to get it out without too much straining because I already have hemorrhoids I don't want to make them any worse. This went on for a while then a couple of weeks ago i did start to get stimulation with the second and third BM (if i needed it.) Always in the morning within two or three hours. So I went to the doctor and this is when he diagnosed me with IBS and put me on Mebeveline. Three times a day before meals and for two days i only went once in the morning again. Not a huge amount and took just a little effort to pass. But this morning i went twice, the second BM that come on was about two hours after the first and now i'm back to straining because it just sat in my bowels and didn't want to shift. I've just had a third one at 10pm, and again the little begger just sits there making me feel uncomfortable and not hungry for my dinner. I preferred life before the Mebeverine when it started to fall out of me in the morning and I knew it was over and I didn't have to carry it round with me for hours till i could get to the bathroom and sit there wriggling and pushing to try to get it out.

I am never loose or two hard or have a major urgency to go. So how the Doctor can say it's IBS is beyond me. Unless anybody in here can tell me otherwise. I do get trapped wind a lot that is sometimes difficult to pass even if it is in my bowels i have to bend over sometimes to let it out. A little abdominal pain but nothing to bad. I've started taking Fybogel but not sure it's doing anything.

So that's me
Can anyone help
Thanks
Darryl

IBS is often used to mean any and all functional bowel problems. You aren't complaining of bloody diarrhea or other symptoms that indicate something other than functional.

All IBS requires is a change in stool consistency or frequency (not any particular one) and major urgency is not required but can be one of the discomforts along with bloating, feeling like the stool needs to come out but won't (incomplete evacuation), pain, etc.

Thank you Kathleen. At the moment i seem to suffer pretty much all the while, and it seems very daunting looking online about what I can and can't eat. For about 2 hours of the day I feel absolutely fine. I like those times. I'm going to cut out dairy but at the moment I eat alpen in the morning and I know it contains some bad things but it definitely helps me go more normally in the morning and and that is a godsend at the moment.

Thanks Darryl.
