Frustrating day... or week even. Do you ever just want to eat salads? Or healthy snacks like nuts or tomatoes.. or trail mix... or whatever. I just can't figure out what to eat to lose weight or snack. I ate a salad this weekend and while everything was fine most of the time I ended up with a horrible IBS attack late the next day. Sometimes putting so much thought into food can be so exhausting I'd almost rather skip it all together.Diet advice would be great! I feel like I can go to the gym every day and work so hard but because I can't eat a certain way, it will never work. plhhhhh......sucks.

Cooked veggies can be as low calorie as a salad (sometimes even less depending on how much dressing you use).Cooked veggies are usually easier on the gut than raw.And you can lose weight on any diet, you do not need specific foods. Portion control with any diet can help you lose weight, just eat less of each thing you normally eat that doesn't upset the gut. It isn't always easy, but as long as you eat less it doesn't matter so much which foods. You can lose weight eating nothing but twinkies if you control the total amount. May not be a healthy diet, but you can lose weight.Sometimes with IBS you are better off dividing your meals and eating the same stuff for 4-5 small meals a day than try to eat 3 large meals with snacks between. Mini meals of 300 calories or so every 3 hours sometimes keeps the gut working more smoothly.

Yup cooked veggies can be just as tasty! I love some rosemary sprinkled cauliflower, zucchini (sometimes with stewed tomatoes) with a bit of parmesan on top, broccoli salad is great! One can make a great salad out of steamed veggies!

I have no problems with most veg, even lettuce, when using my medication. But sometimes you just have to avoid foods even when you are healthy. Not everything agrees with everybody.
Diagnosed originally with microscopic colitis in 1992 but no inflammation detected on subsequent colonoscopies,so IBS diagnosed. Hoping to share my personal opinions and experiences to help others and become more aware myself. No medical training at all.
