HiI've been reading and reading to try and source my ibs problems.Basically I went out and got drunk one night, had a load of kfc at the end of the night and woke up with a hangover. Thing was though my stomach was different to usual and had diahhrea badly and felt sick. This lasted for 2 days and then everything seemed to go (or so I thought) back to normal.Anyway I've had Ibsd ever since and tried many different things. I've never given a pop sample to my gp and he never ave me any antibiotics as I described the symptoms as sometimes feeling ok, others being really bad.Is there any way that I could simply have an infection or overgrowth in my gut caused by bacteria that simply needs antibiotics followed by probiotics to repair things?I know it's a long shot but before this night out 2 years ago I didn't suffer. Having read some people's stories on here and what they have don't to 'cure' their ibs, I'm just trying to apply a bit of logic to things to try and help my case.Any feedback appreciated.

You may have an overgrowth of candida, look at the symptoms for that. I doubt it was the one-time event that triggered you, you probably had slight symptoms leading up to that. Never say never, tho, cause your recall sounds good. I'd avoid antibiotics if possible. YOu can do a lot, nutritionally, to deal with potential candida overgrowth, do a search and see. No med, no dosingissue.

Yeah Im struggling. I can't apply any logic to this.Started taking probiotics and for 2 weeks felt brilliant. Anyway, lapsed last Thursday and felt pretty rubbish since. Kept taking the probiotics but they aren't helping. Feeling bloated again tonight.Just watched a video on YouTube. Very informative. Talks about removing any bad bacteria from the gut then replenishing with new using various natural methods. Thinking of trying that. Fighting a loosing battle though!

I have suffered from IBS-D since I was 12 and I am 36 now. One thing that is sure to really upset my IBS-D is eating too close to bed time. Its even worse if I get drunk and then eat and then go to bed. If you are out drinking try making sure not to eat after 6 - 8 pm - essentially eat dinner at a normal time and then nothing else. Staying away from all fast-food has definatly helped my symptoms some. Either way if it continues, you should go to the doctor and get the full battery of tests for bacteria, physical problems that could be causing IBS-like symptoms, etc. Doctors cant cure IBS, but sometimes they can help make it a bit better - or cure other ailments that make you THINK you have IBS.Good luck bro.

Hi Neil, I'd say you should go and get a diagnosis. Start with your GP and move on from there. Your GP should recognise that you have a change in bowel habit that has lasted longer than three weeks and if unwilling to give a diagnosis based on your current symptoms, should refer you for further tests. IBS is often diagnosed by exclusion of other diseases. In the interim, you could try researching Calcium tablets or immodium. Both commonly used on a regular basis to reduce D.Good luck

I can't eat KFC bc they use preservatives and MSG in their recipies. I can't eat any buffets either. If this was a one time deal may be something fixable. Try again in the future, you may have an intolerance to certain foods/ingredients.
