Monsoon, I have felt exactly the same for the last year. Can you tell me if there was anything in going on in your life at the time this all started? Had you recently been on antibiotics for something? I actually had an episode in 2007 after taking an antibiotic my oral surgeon prescriped and it ended up making me so sick I had to be hospitalized. After being released from the hospital once I could keep solid food down, I still felt bad for a couple of weeks but then got better. I was back to normal and didn't have another problem until I was treated for a sinus infection that wouldn't go away and was prescribed another strong antibiotic that gave me the same problems the one in 2007 had. I was hospitalized in May, 2011, released after 5 days but continued to have symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting, along with severe fatigue. I just wanted to curl up in a corner and die. During this time I was seeing the GI doctor who I saw in the hospital and they were giving me several different prescriptions that didn't help a bit. After a routine colonoscopy (just turned 50), my symptoms became even worse and after a couple of trips to the ER for uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting, I was admitted to the hospital again. After 6 days, as soon as I could hold down food (was very difficult, so I faked it so I could go home) I was released again. Another 3 weeks of feeling like I was dying, I was again in the ER for the same reason. My white blood count was 10 times higher then it should be, and once again admitted to the hospital. I told every doctor, nurse, and even the cleaning lady, this all started after taking the antibiotics. Do you think anyone listened? I finally had the nurse in my GP doctor's office give me some samples of Floristor which is a probiotic. Since I've been on the probiotics and an anti-nausea medicine I have finally started feeling better. I'm still having a bit of trouble sleeping well, and occasionally my stomach sounds like a volcano, but it's the best I've felt in over a year. From what I have learned on this site and other places, the fatigue isn't normally an IBS system, which means it may be caused by something else. Try going on a probiotic. You can start with the Floristor I mentioned, but if that doesn't help, try another or get a recommendation from your doctor or someone on this site. Hope this helps you and best of luck for a speedy recovery. Hang in there.
