Hi there, first time poster here ~ I've had IBS for the last 4 years with the dreaded fbo ~ Went gluten free 3 weeks ago and what a Big difference ~ where 4 toilet rolls were used, over around a week, today just 1 is required! (could only say that here B))~ My stomach feels more settled which is great, still have ibs to a smaller degree though. The fbo seems to be ongoing, like many here i'm unaware of it,but ppl are still reacting so it's there but i would guess to a lesser degree, any advice or experience of this gluten free 'diet'~ what chance of a full recovery? All the Best!

I've been gluten-free for about 9 months myself and it has helped tremendously, however it has not made me completely symptom-free (although for the first 6 months I was). I have a gluten intolerance and not celiac disease (per my blood test), and many people who don't actually have CD do benefit from a GF diet. Good to hear it's helping you as well.

Any tips on how to start a gluten free diet?

I found changing to gluten free quite easy ~ ordering from an online supermarket making sure that the gluten products i usually buy ( 6 or 7 items ) were substituted for strictly GF items only, had to give away some things with wheat/gluten etc in them, including 8 cans of Guinness stout, which was a wrench! Also am taking a GF multi vit/mineral tablet and looking at including a fibre rich food in case of a lack of this in the GF 'diet'. Hope that helps and improves your situation if you decide to try to go GF.Good Luck! :)

Some basic information can be found on the site below. There is a pretty good forum there as well. Basically you need to eliminate all forms of gluten from your diet (wheat, rye, spelt, kamut, oats that aren't gluten-free, etc). Sounds easy, but wheat/gluten is "hidden" in many processed foods.http://www.celiac.com/
