Ive noticed that lately no matter how much i brush my teeth or how clean my mouth is theres always this heavy feeling to my breath. It feels like theres something tinging the odor.funny thing is when people are a couple of feet away they'll be rubbing their nose and sneezing but when theyre up close they'll tell me how minty my breath isI know my mouth is clean and its not acid reflux so my question is, is this a symptom of SIBO or IBS? What is it?

Yup, I had that issue too (even after wisdom teeth extraction a couple weeks ago) but it's cleared up since I've started using baking soda.KEEP USING BAKING SODA! Give it another week of 2x a day of 1/2 tbsp. It worked for me (I think) and I really want it to work on an influential person like yourself on these boards.

FBO. Might be leaky gas as my butt would be wet after getting from class, but that may have been my nervousness causing me to sweat. No idea...

No idea. Do you brush your tongue? Focus on the back of your tongue. How do you brush your teeth? My dentist told me the right way to brush your teeth is in an upwards/downwards motion, instead of back and forth like a chainsaw.

haha influential?damn right.I got LG/FBO. same thing if its GI related.Yea I brush correctly. That's not the problem. Already talked to my dentist about this and he told me the same thing. The problem is I'll brush, use mouthwash, be fresh and clean, and I'll still feel like there's something wrong.I'll try the baking soda though. Thanks for the tip. If you say it worked then it worked and thats all I need

since dropping all my treatments my lg has come back ever so slightly, i feel as though i get what you mention, im also feeling that leaky gas maybe originating from my nose, or that my nose is somehow cycling bad smell as when i got back in from a walk the other day, i could have sworn i could smell a repeat of the sewery river smell.

Ok Pengu, Westr....you forced my hand lol. Someone on here (sorry I forgot who) did a thread about halitosis and a few months ago someone was talking about the GSE sinus flush helping fbo. In my case-- the remaining odor not taken care of by the fodmap diet is caused by something in my sinuses or post nasal drip. Sounds insane, so let me explain....I checked for tonsil stones-nope. I have a weird taste in my mouth that brushing never solves but there is no bad breath according to Dentist.....even though I have a wisdom tooth that needs to be removed. The other thing is half my family has some wierd odor to them and it isn't genetic....and there is no way they all have IBS, food intolerances, and the same anatomical problems I have. The members of my family who have the odors all have horrible sinus problems and post nasal drip.I tried the GSE and saline flush just like most back in fall. Didn't work. However, I noticed when I swim in pools-the odor goes away for about a day. I rely on others comments to let me know. I started doing the sinus flush under slight pressure with a stronger saline solution a week ago and (drum roll) the odor is gone. No more post nasal drip, no weird taste in my mouth, and I have discovered I have horrible spring allergies. Yay? I have to do the flush every day but it is worth it.I was going to wait a month to see that it really worked....but you guys are noticing the same things I am. Yes-when I started it burned like hell. I got used to it. Oh-also, I thought I couldn't smell my bo....I could, it was just constant and coming from my own nose all the time....so I got used to it.

BlueBirdHappy : I am happy its working for you. What do you mean by stronger saline solution and do u add GSE?. Do you use homemade sol or any brand? I bought a NeilMed sinuflo ready rinse available at CVS. I will try it tomorrow and report back the results.

I make the solution at home. About 1 tsp sea salt to 8 oz of boiled water (or distilled) with a pinch of baking soda. I put in 15 to 20 drops GSE for each 8 oz of solution. It burns like heck and I use something similar to NeilMed bottle to get slight pressure when I irrigate. I do a tilt and turn of my head to get all the sinuses. I do it before a shower and the steam helps drain the rest out.

I've noticed the same thing. I'll go somewhere and be exposed to a smell and then a while later when I'm nowhere near, it'll feel like I'm pumping that same smell out.For example I was in the back seat of my aunts car which smells like rotten milk cuz her kids spilled milk in it. Anyways the next day I'm completely showered and wearing new clothes and i start feeling the signs of leaky gas and smelling that same exact smell. It was crazy.Bluebird I had really bad spring allergies but i havrnt noticed any symptoms since this thing started. i thought I was cured but I guess not. Turns out my "cure" might be the actually be the sign of something else. I have more to say on this but im falling asleep as we speak so ill write the rest rtommorow

I tried nasal rinse with GSE yesterday. How long does it take to see improvement, if any. I am also planning it to do tonight again.

aargh this is too weird we both get that. i bet if we went to a doctor with it they would instantly say thats a symptom of olfactory hallucination. in other weirdness, just come back from driving 4 hours to an interview, during which i smelt leaky gas of some description, no controlled gas movements or sensations. the moment i stop and get out i need to pass wind. however after i get out and close the door, i take a deep breath through my nose then go sit back in the car, and the smell of leaky gas is gone. so i have no definitive idea about whether or not its external, internal within the nose or completely made up in my head.also smelt nothing in my interview, right stuffy little room under stress for 3 hours. i wonder if my sitting position needs to be just right to produce the effect.im going to start GSE nasal douching again, and starting this friday ill get back on my diet and whatnot. already been back on the probiotic for a week and the sour taste in my mouth has gone pretty much.

Right. Like I was saying, I reckon this is more than IBS. Since it's affecting you nasal passages and all that ######. It's something more systemic. Im thinking candida or some ######
