Well your best bet of course is to ask the Dr this one.. but.. what you miht want to do is try not taking the imodium on a weekend day or a day off and see what happens. But maybe one doesn't see total improvement til all three antibiotics are done??? I don't know.. so maybe give your Dr a call.I would also ask about using probiotics in case the antibiotics wipe out the good gut bacteria. Remember SIBO happens in the small intestine ... not the colon where IBS occurs. So trying to fix the SIBO could cause some IBS type problems????.... So ask the Dr.should I should stop taking Imodium for each week I am on the antibiotics and take time off work?
Please remember this is a group of folks seeking support on how to live with and manage IBS. THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN THOUGHTS. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERT OPINION, ASK A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

I'm in a similar situation just started on the antibiotics yesterday. Keep in mind, we may react differently to different antibiotics, but I have a tendancy to get diarrhea as a side effect of the antibiotic. I am taking Florastor probiotic with mine and letting the rest take ist's course. I got 2 doses of the antibiotic in me yesterday and had diarrhea at around Midnight, 3 episodes within the hour. After not much sleep I had a semi normal bowel movement this morning and took my 3rd dose of antibiotic shortly thereafter. So far, no problem. Please be sure to check with your doctor on what side effects you might expect and if you should take probiotics and/or imodium at the same time as the antibiotic. Best of luck with kicking the problem altogether.

Cheers for the replies. My doc told didn't mention any probiotics to me, (though I'm aware of the combination of antibiotics and probiotics), but I guess there might be some mention of probiotics in the paperwork to follow. With regards to the Imodium, she said she'll leave that judgement down to me. I work Mondays and Tuesdays so thats the only two days I take Imodium, but depending on my diet that week it can take damn near all week to wear off - hence my indecision about whether to take it or not.
