Should I be concerned about a sudden change from IBS-D to -C? I've had a bit of C in the past (or rather, some alternation), but now I've been struggling with it for a week and a half. It's not unmanageable but it is unpleasant, and since I've been D-predominant in the past, it has my very worried (which can't be helping). Many thanks.

Some folks with can and do alternate between D and C. I wouldn't be concerned... it is part of the nature of IBS. And obviously the nature of your IBS since you have seen some alternation in the past.Of course the worrying doesn't help you... so I would reign that in if I were you. Try a simple stool softener.. without a laxative. They do not "make" you go but rather make it easier to go. Course upping your fiber can help too. Try a bit of apple or prune juice maybe??I think alternating IBS or IBS-A can be very frustrating to deal with..... it is a fine balancing act!
Please remember this is a group of folks seeking support on how to live with and manage IBS. THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN THOUGHTS. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERT OPINION, ASK A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.
