Hey shaun, sorry to hear of your situation, do not let ibs ruin your life! There are far worse ilnesses that you could have! Try and occupy your mind go out do some excercise or go to the cinema, also take medications to make your quality of life better and most importantly think positive!Take care Matt

It isn't ALL in your head. You have a real illness.. IBS. For which there is no cure... only symptom management. It is all about symptoms management. Most people find that they do best with a variety of treatments working in concert; including: Medications, Herbals, Vitamins and Minerals, behavioral & lifestyle changes, diet, alternative treatments.. etc. So keep an open mind and TRY things .... it is all through trial and error. Different things work best for different people.... because we are all different. SOme people do great just avoiding some things in their diets. Others need medications and alternative treatments combined. Yet others need CBT and relaxation treatments as well a special diet. Just depends,, so try some calcium carbonate supplements... or imodium with diet changes, and/or a stronger probiotic... etc...
Please remember this is a group of folks seeking support on how to live with and manage IBS. THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN THOUGHTS. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERT OPINION, ASK A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.
