Just curious to see if anyone else has had muscle pain side effects from Levsin (hyoscyamine sulfate). My dr is thinking I have IBS-d so she prescribed Levsin. I just paid $65 for it and it is causing me pain and discomfort. Not helping my IBS-d either.I need to call the dr tomorrow.

Where is the muscle pain??(If the Dr. wants to prescribe something else.. don't be shy.. ask for samples first!)

Pain started in arms, then the next day arms, legs & back. I tried Buscopan (which is OTC in UK but FDA wont approve here). It gave me joint pain.

OK I would stop taking it. Sorry this happened but there are other antispasmodics to try.. but like I said see if they have any samples first. Also... Peppermint is a natural antispasmodic. So you can try peppermint tea, peppermint capsules or even strong peppermints like Altoids.(And by the way.. I would always keep some benadryl in your house in case of allergic reactions.)Keep us posted!

Thanks. I have tried peppermint teas and ginger teas. Called the drs office. They are making me go in to see her. So, here's another $35 spent, $65 wasted. She isn't the type that has samples. We will see what she says this afternoon.

Just returned. She said that the pain is uncommon for those meds but could happen since I had similar problems on Buscopan, an OTC med that I was trying in the UK.She said that these types of drugs are not for me since it did not do anything to help with the stomach issue which it would have helped within the first day or two if it was going to.I told her that I paid $65 for the Levsin and asked if she had any samples of anything else that she would suggest. She said that her personal opinion is that it is anxiety and she gave me ativan to try. Told me to keep getting fibre, fluids and avoid dairy.I go back to see her in 6 weeks for some bloodwork. It is a shame that I cannot recycle this bottle of Levsin to someone who needs it.Hate to spend that kind of money for nothing.

Yes, I am not about to spend more money on these new IBS drugs ifI have to pay a lot for them then waste them. I hate wasting things and knowing there are ppl out there that could use this Levsin but I am told to just throw it away really pisses me off.Other countries have recycling programs for meds. It is a shame the US just throws everything away. I keep seeing reports on how much RX's they find in our water. No surprise!Ok, rant over!
