Hello,I was diagnosed with ibs-c about 1 year ago, although, have suffered for many years. Along with constipation which is somewhat under control most days, I continue to have pain in my right side should blade. I have had an ultra sound of the gallbladder, as well as a Hida scan. All were normal. This pain is intermentent, and seems to subside with a bowel movement. Can anyone relate to this? I would love to hear from you, and what your thoughts might be. Thanks so much. Mary

Sounds like gas. Do you wake up in the morning with this pain? Have you tried simethicone or another anti-flatulent? I am currently experimenting with these.

There is a bend in the colon right by the gall bladder, and the bends tend to be trouble spots with IBS. The one on the left is more common, but can happen either side.Nerves in the abdomen cover a pretty large area so some people seem to have the pain from that part of the colon "refer" up to the shoulder blade much like people with gall bladder problems can have.

Thank you Kathleen,It's just bothersome. Diet doesn't seem to have an effect on it, so perhaps it is the nerves. Thanks so much for your reply.

At one point I was having pain in the shoulderblade, I can't remember which one but it felt like a spasm type pain. I too had my gallbladder checked and it was normal so I'm guessing it must be like kathleen said.Xx
