ALL increases in fiber will cause gas until one's body gets used to it. (Could be up to a few weeks)Try Benefiber rather than diet if you are unsure how much you will need. A product like benefiber is much more easily manipulated to go up or down a dose than foods are. I didn't like Metamucil either... Citracel was better.... but Benefiber has zero taste.... and one can put it in any beverage. It is clear. So that appeals to me. But try different ones if you want.

Ah, they do seem to sell benefiber in our health store so perhaps I should get my hands on some. I really dislike the texture and taste of fybogel so I guess it's worth a go!

I use pure organic psyllium powder. One teaspoon, three times per day. Mix it with a frother, because it gels quickly and will stick to your mouth like glue. The "clotting" effect is obvious, and that is why I have had so much success with it.I found that the Metamucil type was full of other things I did not want, and was not as effective.

Is benefiber okay? I hear it uses wheat and thats a no no for IBS, I personally dont know if im allergic to specific kind of food. Right now I just eat oatmeal for breakfast, since im kinda used to that but ive considered supplements. Problem is, how many supplements is a person with IBS is supposed to take? I take peppermint and probiotics already, do i really need yet another one on top of them? Thats not counting the other herbal stuff that i try.

Wheat is a "no no" for Celiac's Disease.. not IBS. Ask your Dr to test you for Celiacs if you are concerned.
