Hi Lu. Gas is pretty normal for IBS. I read somewhere a long time ago that the average person with 'normal' bowels passes gas 12 times a day, although with IBS it is usually in excess. It is one of the symptoms. I tended to suffer more with it when i took the fibogel which is why i stopped it, but i would have thought any increase in fibre will do the same. I tend to get an increase now when i need to 'go' and it lessens after.I dont know what sticky stool is, but i have days where i can wipe and wipe and wipe and never really feel clean and other days i can wipe and there will be nothing. I think this is also quite common with IBS and without. I remember watching BB once and someone came out of the loo and said about the same thing.Lol, sad person i am.I saw my GP a short while ago as i passed what looked like black stool, well, in my eyes it was black anyhow but could have been just dark brown. She told me it was probably something i had eaten, but if it was blood it would still be obvious. I never had it again after that. I do pass mucus with stool though sometimes, especially when i am constipated. Everybody has mucus though, ibs or not. It helps the stool travel through the colon easily but with IBS, again, it seems to be in excess. I think that if you had diarrhea then you would have seen blood if there was any. Has your new GP done a stool test yet? and what are you taking now for the symptoms?
