I have SIBO and have elected to go ZERO-CARB for two weeks. In the meantime I'm gathering data on what vegetables I can include later. On one list it says NO to onions, asparagus, avocados and nightshades. On another list it says YES to the same. [just examples]. What list are we supposed to follow? Sometimes too much internet research can really cause confusion. Does anyone have a DEFINITIVE LIST for me to follow? Any suggestions gratefully received. P.S. NUT BUTTERS: is Barney butter ok? on one list it says ONLY 365 almond butter is allowed. <sigh>

There is no definitive list.I think with nut butters it depends on what they add to it, if you get the ingredient list for the 365 you could compare any other to it. The problem is which, if any, sweeteners they use. With Veggies, do not expect all lists to agree, they often use different theories as to what is included. The Low Fodmap list is probably the most restrictive while other lists may include onions or other things because they exclude some carbs, but not all the ones the low Fodmap diet does.FODMAP is new enough it is hard enough to get those lists to all agree, much less convince everyone else with every other theory as to what to include/exclude.If you want the most restrictive you could follow the low FODMAP approach, if not that I'd check out Dr. Pimental's book since he's the SIBO guy.

the low fodmap veggies are after two weeks of NOcarb, right?I have Sibo, leaky gut, the whole thing. Always have since childhood, so this is quite a relief. Decades of vegan-fruitarian didn't help.Do you recommend the pimental book for someone with both problems? i want so badly to PIN IT ALL DOWN and nail it!

if you feel you have all of them, and the selected carbs conflict on all these theories, then the only safe thing for awhile is to go zero-carb and have some chives and lettuce since those two are allowed on all theories.
