I have been contacted from my GI dr and my GP dr for a new drug study. FDA has it on the fast track from what they say for a new medicine for IBS-D. I went and wanted to participant (anything to make things better) but I would have to get OFF my meds. Told them I couldn't do that and work! Hope they find people and have positive results we need something NOW! I have had this for 30 years and they stil keep just trying drug after drug that doesn't work.

The drug trials i go on allow you to take anti diarrhoeals if you need them and the trial drugs arent helping.Do you know the name of the drug your doctor offered to put you on a trial of?
Diagnosed originally with microscopic colitis in 1992 but no inflammation detected on subsequent colonoscopies,so IBS diagnosed. Hoping to share my personal opinions and experiences to help others and become more aware myself. No medical training at all.

Its the latest drug to be trialled for IBS D and maybe IBS A but I'm not certain of IBS A though. Its supposed to help regulate bowel movements into normal urges for those of us with IBS D and there are no reported serious side effects. Its also reported to be much more effective than loperamide too.http://ibs.about.com/b/2011/01/28/new-ibs-d-drug-mudelta-in-testing.htmhttp://www.furiex.com/pipeline/discoverydevelopment-pipeline/mu-delta/http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22671931?dopt=CitationHere are a couple of articles on it.

That was it.. Oh I hope it works and gets approved soon. I go to another gi dr Wednesday, the last one rolled her eyes when she gave me pamine and I asked if I could come back in 4 weeks instead of 4 months in case in doesn't work and we can try something else. I swear I know more about IBS than any of these idiots and I.m sick of them just pretending to listen. Yes I know you can.t fix it but dammit maybe we can keep trying something until something helps. I miss at least one day a week form work (thank god for FMLA). By the way pamine gave me severe stomach pains. Bad enough to make a trip to the er. Stopped taking it and pain went away by the second day. Back to square one! Oh yeah I've been doing this for 30 years.
