Hey everybody!! I don't know about you but my IBS is always worse in the a.m.. I am constantly running back and forth for hours! My stools aren't watery, just very loose. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone know of a way I can clump up my stool so that I only go 1 or 2 times instead of 5 or 6? Is fiber a good option? I was thinking about taking hyoscyamine when I wake up to slow down my tummy. Is this a good idea? If you experience this what do you do? I am starting my junior year at a new college in a week and I will be moving away from home to an apartment with 3 other roommates. My morning bathroom battles make it impossible for me to take morning classes (which are inevitable) and with 3 roomies I can't be hogging the toilet in the morning. Anyone have any tips or tricks?! Is fiber or hyoscyamine the answer? What about taking immodium when I wake up?HELP! :(

I've been doing pretty well for about a year now with 3 Imodium a day -- one at breakfast, one at lunch and one at night at around 8 or 9. Mornings used to be rough for me, too, but now I need to go only once or twice. Here are a few other things which might help you: (1) If you eat dinner later rather than earlier, switch it around if possible. (2) If you want to snack after dinner, keep it small. I'm OK with tea and a couple of cookies. (3) If you drink a lot of coffee, cut back as much as you can. I'm pretty sure that part of my morning problem was due to the 5 cups of coffee I had when I got up. I have tea in the morning now just because my husband doesn't drink coffee and I don't want to be bothered with making a small amount, but I can have one cup with no ill effects.I hope this helps. Good luck!

Take an imodium before you sleep also don't eat late I won't eat after 7pm... I was like that your bowel is most active in. The am... Mine has got better with imodium and probiotics also helped put good bacteria back in. Try low fodmap diet people swear its made them normal again. Good luck I know its tough I used to go 20times a day!!

Thanks guys! I will certainly try your tips! I have just one last question. Instead of imodium I just take the generic anti-dirreaheal, is this okay or is there something magical in imodium that I am missing out on? Also, should I increase my fiber or no?I appreciate all your help and advice :)

The generic for Imodium should work the same.Fiber is hard to answer, some people do better, some do worse, so you may need to play with the amount to see what is optimal for you. It is hard to predict who is helped or not.

I used to have this same problem and probiotics, namely Floristor, has worked wonders. One in the morning and one before bed. I also take hyoscomine, once in the morning and another in the evening. I don't know if this helps with the diarrhea or just the rumbling in my stomach. It seems to help my nausea more then the diarrhea part, but I don't think it makes the diarrhea any worse. Also, you might try calcium carbonate. I take one in the morning and another before bed and it helps bulk up the stool. Best of luck to you in college. I did it the hard way (27 yrs of night school) but I finally got my degree. Hope this helps and you start feeling better real soon.
