Hi everyone,I will do a short history and your help or experience will be appreciate. I’m French so don’t be too hard on my syntax, thank you.Everything begin in December 2003. In 2004 I had maybe 5 or 6 flare up of IBS but nothing uncontrollable. In 2006 it shift and begin to be more frequent. I have been diagnose and all test were done at that time. I have been hospitalize many time in 2007. The symptoms at that time were long episode of diarrhea (I will be on the toilet for 45 minutes straight nonstop), huge cramp, huge spasm, sweating bullets and ready to pass out. The pain from the cramp and spasm are devastating to a point that just breathing hurt so bad. In 2008 the Dr decided it was time for me to be self medicated so I can control the IBS episode and not have to go to the hospital every time. I was already taking Buscopan since 2004 every time that I had a flare and they gave me a prescription for Hydromorphone 2mg. With that medication I was able to get through the episode. I taught it can’t get worse. I was wrong.A new symptoms appeared. Nausea and vomiting. Every time I had an IBS episode I began to vomiting. The vomiting will last from 12 to 24 hours nonstop at an interval of 5 to 15 minutes between throwing up. In august 2011 I lived hell for 3 weeks nonstop. I was hospitalize and didn’t eat for 3 weeks. Every time I try to eat it will go out right away. I was so sore from vomiting all the time and they weren’t able to stop it. I had a tube going down the throat to the stomach for days. The tube is supposed to prevent you to vomiting by sucking what is in the stomach. Still with the tube I was able to through up a bit. They did so many test and everything come back negative. The problem was the Large intestine was inflamed and causing what happen. I lost 24 pounds during those 3 weeks.Since then I’m unable to eat much. My diet consist of eating a lot of bread, potato and rice, turkey and chicken with no sauce au spice. After one year of that diet and getting sick of it. I try couple other thing and every time it got me sick again. I have written all food that make sick and the list is long. I’m sick all the time now and have to take Buscopan everyday if I want to eat. If I don’t take it, when I eat it hurts really bad and will have cramps. But by doing so I get constipated. This is causing a lot of pain during the next diarrhea episode. I have to take massive dose of Buscopan. The prescription say 3 pills a day but I’m taking 6 to 8 per days.Last week I got another episode of 2 hours straight of diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. It was getting out by the two place at the same time. That hurt really bad. I threw up for 15 hours nonstop at an interval of 5 to 10 minutes between vomiting. I’m living hell right now. This 15 hours of vomiting is so painful, to a point that my heart hurt because of the vomiting intensity. I’m taking Hydromophone 2mg at an interval of 3 hours to help for the pain but it barely help. Most of the time I will through them up few minute after taking them. Same for the Gravol and Buscopan, I can’t keep anything in during the episode. I try 3 different type of Gravol and other name that I don’t remember. I’m scare because I know how it hurt every time and don’t want to go through that again ever but I know that isn’t the case. I’m losing around 5 to 10 pounds per episode. And the way it is now it happen once every couple weeks. During an episode I will do breading exercise, hot pack on the left side, hot bath to help for the cramp after the diarrhea episode and try to think about something else during the flare. I will take Gravol, Buscopan and Hydromorphone 2mg. I don’t know what to do anymore. I contact my gastroenterologist and there isn’t much thing he can do. I’m at the point to try the hypnosis anyway if I don’t believe it can change my situation. I’m going to look at the peppermint oil and try it. I’m so tired to eat bread 3 times a day, to see all my family to be able to eat whatever they want. I hate to go to the grocery to realize how bad is my situation. I have been sick many time on travel that it’s not fun anymore to travel. Can it get worse??? Who is living a similar situation???What else can I do???Who can help me???Thank you for your help!

Vomitting isn't typical with IBS.Have you ever had your Gall Bladder functioning tested? Have you been tested for Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)?
Please remember this is a group of folks seeking support on how to live with and manage IBS. THESE ARE ONLY MY OWN THOUGHTS. IF YOU WANT AN EXPERT OPINION, ASK A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

Yes, I agree that it sounds like your gall bladder. Ask for a HIDA scan from your doctor. I found out that they try to avoid testing the gall bladder for some reason.

I had a similar situation and when I told my dr about the vomiting she said examined me and I have gastritis (an inflammation of the lining of the stomach)She gave me PPI,s which stop the acid and a antinausea tablet, only eat bland food. It has helped a lot and is almost better. Vomiting is not a symptome of IBS as has been said before.

I'M suprise that my gastroanlorogue didn't reconize this possibility of the gall bladder or gastritis. I will be talking with my family doctor on the 12 sept and see what see can do. A second opinion is always good!Thank you.
