Mrs.Nookie2I could not agree with you more. It's a lot "safer" out there with jeans AND a coat. It is easy to feel vulnerable in a season with light colors, shorts etc. What I do is tie a light weight (black!) sweater around my waist, JUST IN CASE. I do love the weather, just hate leaving my garden and pool to go ANYWHERE. Home is the only place I feel safe anymore.Thank God for this board. Though I hate to think how we all suffer.

Well, no, I wouldn't use moss in Toronto, either; but when you are caught unawares in the woods it is useful to know and it sure helped me. (Do they still have woods in Scotland, or were they all cut down to get the Birnam Wood to go to Dunsinane? I was always told the northern part was a lot like the Yukon. I know we are also similar to parts of Scandinavia.) And yes, it is idyllic, if you don't mind an occasional 40 below.Mark

I must be 20 miles from you - Preston, Lancs and believe me it's got to be the wettest place here. Anyway school doesn't finish here until July so lots of time to wait yet. I'm getting bad eyes and runny nose from the high tree pollen at moment - can't win.. but hey its ever so slightly warmer, nearly taking my thermal vest off..lol- sorry think Ive got this quote thingy wrong ere - love Jude

I always get sicker in hot weather...I try to stay away from hot meals at restaurants but if I'm home I'll eat off the grill. That way if I get sick, big deal. I drink lots of water and try to stay as cool as possible. And I try to relax because it's finally summer!

Have you guys all at least tried Caltrate or Questran? They won't eliminate the causes but they seem to absorb a lot of the problem. Are there times of the day that are better than others? I generally knew that once I got through the lunchtime splat I would be ok until about 5, which gave me a window in which errands and outings were possible. Given where I lived through that period (The Yukon and Vancouver Island) it was also easy to get to the woods, picnic, swim in a local lake, x-country ski, etc. I could always find a spot to get away if I needed to. In fine weather I would lunch at a local lake in the bush. There was never anyone around so I could have my emergency and have a dip to clean up before returning to work. (My employees thought I just liked to swim.)The best two tips I came up with are to carry lots of tp and/or look for moss when in the woods. (Even though this is now a non-issue for me, there is still the end of a tp roll in my biking backpack. You just never know...)Enjoy the summer; winter is sure to come again.Mark

I'm kinda dreading it too as the mother of a six year old that constantly wants to do something. I'm hoping to get my IBS under control enough to take her to the zoo. (2 hrs. away)

Hi Overitnow,Sounds quite idyllic in Canada, I think if I took some moss out of my handbag in the middle of Aberdeen I would get some real funny looks!

i look forward to the summer. it seems easier on my son and i. we can plan things around the IBS. it's so nice not having to get up at 7am and getting him to school by 8. i think i do better. we live near disney so there's lots of places that we can do and run home or whatever.

Know I'm kind of weird, but my mood improves in the nice weather, and when I go different places. I have the most problem with my gut when I am in the day to day work, etc routine.Summer- I agree, I don't do the white pants things...ha. I wear pads or Depend type garment a lot of the time...wear tighter underwear over them and it hold them in pretty well. Also, I go to the beach a lot, (live very near a Great Lake here in Michigan) and it just never bothers me...can't ever remember it being a problem. There are a lot of woodsy areas around too...but not many public bathrooms at our beach.Other than that, I'd say eat light before and when you travel, use your meds, and try to let the nice weather improve your look on life. (not always as easy at it sounds, huh?)Jeanne

Even when I used to be " normal ", I never wore white pants, because if you sat down on an outside bench, etc., they always got dirty ! S.G.

Yes, jeans are somewhat like a security blanket. I think it's the tougher material. White pants, that's crazy!!!
