I'm struggling with gas as well.Sometime i wonder if gas could be a natural reaction to "compensate" for lack of motility.

Raj, Regular memberRaghavan: You had a question about the availability of Citrucel in India. Try Methyl Cellulose, the only ingredient in Citrucel. The drug stores here in the US sell methyl cellulose which is cheaper than Citrucel. Good luck

Spasman,Have you ever tried Triphala, an ayurvedic medicine for relieving constipation? It is supposed to be very effective for relieving constipation. But some claim that it cures IBS, which I don't think is true. I am giving you a link to a site.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triphalahttp://www.planether...s/triphala.htmlhttp://www.ayurvedic...om/triphala.htm Hope it helps.

For those from India,I contacted my Gastro and told him about alpha galactosidase and immediately he suggested me a product called Galto manufactured by Ordain health care www.ordainhealth.com It is available in pharmacies. It is much cheaper than trying to import Beano which after shipping costs will be quite prohibitively costly. Since Galto is available in the pharmacies definitely competitors will not be far behind. Ask your gastro about this. He might be able to suggest a good brand. If not get Galto. (I have no marketing affiliations with Ordain or any other company) Just trying to help fellow IBS sufferers. By the way I tried Galto but had frequent urination at night. So stopped it. Asked my Gastro about it. He was puzzled. He says this is a safe supplement and naturally found in the body. Might be since I am taking so many other medications for my seizures and depression the combination is causing the frequent urination. Anyway I am going to give it another try. Will keep posted.

I took vitamin shoppe brand of "Triphala". I read it was supposed to help with well formed odorless stools. Yes it did create large well formed stools. However, it did little for the odor. The next time I buy Triphala, I will buy the name brand. Triphala did not cure my IBS thoughSpasman,Have you ever tried Triphala, an ayurvedic medicine for relieving constipation? Dear Iwillcuremyibs,I see that you are from USA. There will definitely an ayurvedic or naturopathic doctor near your place. Go to him and ask where from you can buy Triphala ? Triphala is not a specific brand name. It is a generic name. So get a good brand even if it costs a little extra. In India many allopaths know and orally tell their patients to try triphala even though as per allopathic medicine practice they are not supposed to prescribe triphala. That is an indication to the extent to which triphala is popular among IBS - C patients in India. It is a very safe medication.
