I'm just your regular 15 year old girl. That has diarrhea more often than not.
About a two years ago I was struck with severe never ending stomach pain and I ended up missing about 4 or 5 months of my eighth grade school year. The pain ceased about a year and a half ago when my gall bladder was removed.
Since then, I have been stuck with IBS. Painful bouts have just become a part of my life. It's embarrassing, painful, and I end up missing a lot of school in fear that I'll get sick there. I'm in high school. You cannot take a dump, let alone have explosive diarrhea, in the school bathroom without being known as the disgusting kid for the rest of your time there.
When I do go to school, I sometimes have to leave school right before a test, right before a cross country meet, or I have to cancel plans with friends about a half hour before because it will come so suddenly and out of nowhere.
It has completely taken over my life.

I understand:)
09/10/2009 - 01:05I was a little older than you 18 when my IBS first started. It was my senior year of high school. I too, had the quick exits and constant cancelling of plans. Its tough at that age because people can be so cruel. All I can say is your truest friends will always have your back and understand it something you can't control and are just trying to find a way to live with it. Good Luck to you
Gluten
09/10/2009 - 17:46I had giardia 15 years ago I was treated, ever since then I have had ibs-D four weeks ago I decided to eliminate wheat products from my diet (glutens) For the first time in 15 years I do not take any more diarrhea meds. This has been a real breakthrough for me. You might consider this.
