I am a 62 year old, happily married man, with a good career, a nice family, reasonably healthy for my age, and fairly well balanced emotionally. But since my 20's I have suffered from stomach and digestive problems (including at one stage development of a stomach ulcer), which were eventually diagnosed as IBS. I developed the classic symptoms of reflux, bloating, stomach aches, heart burn, intestinal cramps, and need for constant visits to the toilet. All very debilitating and at times very unpleasant in the effects.
Like most people with this rather vague condition (which noone really seems to know the cause of) I have lived for years on combinations of gaviscon (and other antacid products), Omeprazole (and other gatro resistant capsules), mebeverine, and buscopan (for intestinal cramp)
I even had an operation to prevent reflux (which stemmed principally from a hiatus hernia problem and high stomach acid levels).
I am very conscious of a need to maintain a well balanced diet regime, avoiding foods that obviously aggravate the condition, and I am also conscious of the fact one has to take regular exercise to maintain basic fitness levels. This is the case for anyone, whether they suffer from IBS or not.
A year ago, by chance, I discovered an easily available food product that proved to be effective in bringing about the significant relief of my IBS symptoms. This particular food contains both high fibre and a strong digestive enzyme, and coincidentally is, on the face of it, sourced from countries where IBS is not a problem. I now eat this particular food on a regular daily basis (one a day) in combination with another easily obtainable (but very expensive) food product, and for the past six months I have been completely free of any IBS symptoms, and as a result have stopped taking prescribed medicines.
This may of course only have worked in my particular case, but I would like to believe that the same two products could actually help other IBS sufferers. To demonstrate that I am not mean or selfish, I would be happy to share this information with others. What I would like to do is a controlled experiment with ten other sufferers to assess whether the possible cure I have discovered does actually work.
