I am an 18 year old female who was diagnosed with IBS, acid reflux, and Barrett's Esophagus. I live in constant, incessant pain. No matter what I eat or don't eat, nothing works. I have been like this for a year and 3 months now, and have no clue how this started. My stomach has only one feeling; pain. I don't feel hunger or full, all I feel is more or less pain. Most of the time I can only tell when I'm hungry when I'm feeling weak. I've been on a strictly all healthy diet for about a week now, but I don't feel the slightest bit better. Any advice?

03/28/2010 - 10:01I am 18 years of age also, and was diagnosed with IBS a year and half ago, and still suffer with tromendous about of pains in my stomach. All the symptoms you are having, I had. I couldnt eat, I couldnt walk as my bowels had expanded and was pressing on my lungs so I was finding it very hard to breathe. Even drinking sips of water was making me run to the toilet, yet I still had a blockage. They sent me for tests, thinking it was Cancer as they didnt know what the matter was with me. They eventually told me that I had IBS. And for me to watch my diet. I was in so much pain and they sent me away to change my diet, I wasent eating anything to change my diet! The doctors did not do enough to help me and I stil feel that I have more than IBS, and am being refered to a specialist.
When I was at my very worst with my IBS, nothing helped me with the pain. I did take one tablet that helped for around an hour or pain, which was called Melbervine. But I have trouble swallowing tablets and could only take one without choking. I lived each day as it came, and hoped the pain would eventually go away. A year and a half on, I have very very bad pains every morning, and at various points throughout the day. I am on Movicol three times a day. And Fybogel (with Melbervine in for when the very bad pain is bad) I get nervous at the simple things of going to college in the morning, the jeorney to college, which is only 20 mins away but I get very nervous. I go to the loo around 10 times a day , and when I get nervous, it's more. My only advice I give to you, is to try and take some Melbervine, if you can not take tablets then go for the Fybolgel with Melbervine in. We all have different medications to take pain away, but I do suggest that to you.
I do hope that this pain will ease and you can have some enjoyment out of life.
