METROPOLITAN DESK Corrections
Because of an editing error, an article on Saturday about the Food and Drug Administration's decision to permit the sale of Lotronex, a medicine for irritable bowel syndrome that had been withdrawn from the market because of safety concerns, referred incompletely to patients eligible to use the drug. Although the F.D.A. has approved Lotronex only for women with a severe form of the bowel disorder, doctors can legally prescribe an approved drug for any patient; thus, as in the past, they will be free to prescribe Lotronex for men.
