Hello. I am a somewhat new member to this forum; however, I find it an excellent place to read from others experiences and actually obtain a small sense of both comfort and community. Anyways, I digress. I recently started seeing a gastrointestinal specialist in response to problems that have picked up in the past year, but have in essence lingered probably for most of my life. As a result, I am scheduled for my first c-scope in a couple of weeks. Although I have a parent with an inflammatory bowel disease, I find myself uncertain in what tips and/or tricks there are to surviving the first colonoscopy. One of my major concerns is that, on the day of the procedure, I have a rather lengthy drive to the location of my procedure: at least an hour drive. Does anyone have any tips for this hurdle? My parent with UC has noted that the ride there is generally unpleasant do to the urgency one often experiences. In addition, I am prone to rather frequent visitation of the bathroom. Will this cause more concerns/problems with the preparation factored in? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out; I really appreciate your experience and advice!

I AM GOING FOR MY 3RD C...AND I HAVE ALWAYS FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY THE GASTRO DOC...AND THE EMPTYING HAS ALWAYS ENDED A FEW HRS BEFORE HAVING TO MAKE THE DRIVE...YOU SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU JUST IN CASE...AND IF YOU ARE CONCERNED WEAR AN ADULT DIAPER...BUT YOU SHOULD BE CLEANED OUT...ALSO, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU HOME BECAUSE...YOU WILL BE UNDER AN ANESTHETIC FOR C...AND IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE...MOST HOSPITALS OR CLINICS WILL NOT RELEASE YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE A DRIVER OR A CAB OR A RIDE-SHARE, LIKE AN UBER OR LYFT SERVICE...YOU NEED NOT WORRY...YOU WILL NOT FEEL ANYTHING...MAY I SUGGEST, AS BEING SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD GASTRIC ISSUES FOR 50YRS...THAT YOU HAVE AN ENDOSCOPY AT THE SAME TIME AS THE COLONOSCOPY...YOU CAN ASK YOUR DOC ABOUT IT...
GOOD LUCK...ALSO, IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS THAT YOU HAVE IBS...THERE IS A METHANE/HYDROGEN BREATH TEST THAT WILL DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE AN OVERGROWTH OF BACTERIA IN YOUR INTESTINES, AS WELL AS A NEW IBS BLOOD TEST: that will determine indeed if you have IBS...
