Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon this group searching for answers. Here's my story and any advice would be so appreciated.

I'm frustrated to the point of tears with this. My stomach has been hurting off and on severely for over a year...closer to two. It came out of nowhere. I was fine and then after eating anything (healthy or not), I would have the urgent need to have a BM, but either I would have diarrhea or would be unable to pass anything. I was passing bright red blood at first then sometimes it would be bright, sometimes dark and sometimes a gelatinous clear and bloody substance that smelled strange...and sometimes it would be clots of blood. I went to the doctor and they did an occult blood test and found a lot of bleeding and said it was H.Pylori, so I began taking the insane antibiotics and found that I was allergic to them - they made me feel like I had the worst flu, I was weak, I couldn't get out of bed. So, I went to a homeopathic doctor and the supplements she gave me helped for a couple of months. Then, it came back more frequently and worse. I had to go to the ER about 4 times within a few months, but they couldn't figure out what was causing the pain or bleeding. I was referred to a gastrointestinal specialist and they performed an endoscopy, colonoscopy, checked my gallbladder, the blood flow to my organs, tested for celiac, crohn's, ulcerative colitis, did bloodwork and several x-rays...nothing. A friend with similar issues...and no answers...gave me some of her xanax that was prescribed for the same symptoms and it helps when I'm in severe pain. It's been several months since I have had any issues, haven't had to take any meds and last night, out of nowhere, the pain woke me up from a dead sleep. I felt like I needed to rush to the bathroom, but couldn't pass anything for about an hour. The pain was so intense that it made me vomit and I started to black out a few times, the color in my lips was gone and my lower back went numb. I took half a xanax and it subsided to a bearable degree with peppermint oil and a heating pad applied to my stomach, I fell asleep. My stomach feels extremely tight...as if I did a million crunches and the nagging pain is still somewhat there. I'm afraid to eat anything...I don't know what to do. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I am a female and just turned 30 last month.

side note (unsure of the relation, if any): I have PCOS and very irregular periods. I had a period last month after nothing for about 5 or 6 months. My period was about a week and a half and then next week I went to the restroom and wiped blood, so I thought I was on it again...I had a one day period. A few days ago the same thing happened...a one day "period" and the next day, nothing at all.

Cannot help with most of your questions but IBS does not cause bleeding. Also I read somewhere that IBS generally does not cause a pain which awakens the patient from sleep. You should be careful with that Xanax. That is a very powerful medication belonging to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. The benzodiazepines are habit forming and addictive. Xanax can cause a very nasty withdrawal upon discontinuation.

Thank you. I know Xanax can be dangerous...I'm very careful with it and take half a pill when necessary, but it makes the pain go away. I wonder if I have anxiety and that's how my body manifests it.
