Hi all,

I originally posted this question in the IBS-D thread but I think this is a better place. I have fairly severe IBS-D and I am going on a trip to China this winter. While I'm very excited (it's been a dream for years) I'm also quite anxious about what to eat there. I'll be in Beijing and either Hong Kong or Shanghai. (Part of that decision is based on which has cleaner, more plain food.) I don't eat pork or beef, as well as spicy, fatty or oily, which is pretty much everything, I know. I'm thinking my best bet might be to stick to vegetarian/Buddhist food, though this might be oily as well. Has anyone been to China, specifically Beijing and HK/Shanghai, and can you give recommendations on if there was more plain, less oily food options? Dare I ask about the bathrooms as well, were there any Western toilets?

Thanks so much, this forum is really fantastic and necessary for our community.
