HiI'm new to this forum and I have had IBS-D since my second year at university about 5 years ago. My IBS-D's symptoms have been few and far between but ever since the start of this new year, I have had some episodes of IBS-D, chiefly loose bowel movements. To tell you a bit about the background of my circumstances, I work 3 days a week, live in a comfortable home and I have a comfortable routine. I can't explain why recently my IBS-D seems to be so regular. I have been prescribed Mebeverine and that seems to alleviate the cramp and the loose bowel movements.I wonder if anyone can shed some light as to why my IBS-D seems to be so bad at the moment. It's giving me great anxiety, forcing me sometimes to call in sick. I don't want it disrupting my lifestyle anymore. Thanks for taking the time to read.

It could be any number of factors... I find if I spend less time trying to figure my IBS out and more time managing my symptoms.. I seem to do better. (After all the best GI experts can't figure IBS out.. so realistically I have zero chance of figuring it out myself, right?)It is good that the Mebeverine is working for you. Use imodium (a 1/2 or even a 1/4 tab if that is all you think you need) with meals or before going out may help rebuild your confidence. It could simply be a flare up and may calm down again on it's own.
