Hi. I was on this forum a year ago, and it was a big help........I decided to come back and share my joy! I have been D since 1996 when my gall bladder was taken out. Dr's told me it was in my head.....which some of it could be! As you know, when you have IBS you tend to worry about it all the time since it keeps you home bound, or not eating! FINALLY, two weeks ago I asked my Dr to let me try Levsin. I do not like medications, but have tried everything else. I do not take it as prescribed, which is one or two tablets 4 times a day. I take one about 15 or 20 minutes before eating. It works like a charm everytime!! It keeps the pain away, and when I do "go" it is not D, but normal!! I have put this to the test with a lunch consisting of a Grilled Cheese sandwich and chips......can you imagine?? And it worked.A funny (yet stupid) thing happened to me today though. I went to take my pill before lunch, and somehow there was dishsoap in the glass. I swallowed a couple good gulps before I realized the soap was there. I thought, OH BOY, there is no way I will be saved from this! I ate my sandwich and waited. Nothing happened. Talk about a good test...HA! I take no more than 3 Levsin a day, and it is truly a miracle for me. I wanted to share this with anyone who might benefit. Sometimes you just have to tell your DR what to let you try. Yes, I have some dry mouth, and maybe am not as peppy.....but I tell you, those days of sitting on the pot in pain, or staying in the bathroom for such a long time, did not make me feel good either and wore me out......this is MUCH better!!
