The airline terrorism scares over the past few days have resulted in some discussions regarding new regulations that require passengers to remain in their seats. Anecdotal reports are that passengers are being prohibited from leaving their seats during the last hour of scheduled flight time. However, according to the TSA Guidance for Passengers on Heightened Security Measures in Place Following Dec. 25 Incident, the TSA is currently stating that passengers may be required to remain "seated during certain portions of the flight.", with no such specificity regarding the last hour of flight time.
In either case, such regulations will have a significant negative impact on large groups of people. Off the top of my head, these regulations may make flying prohibitive for those who suffer from:

It is one thing to deal with the hassle of taking off your shoes as you pass through security, it is quite another to have your health compromised. One can only hope that with time, cooler heads and common sense will prevail, and any firm guidelines will not result in arbitrary seat restrictions and prohibited access to bathrooms.

- Those traveling with small children. Imagine telling a squirming toddler, you can't "go potty" now.
- Those who are overcome by an acute GI illness.
