I just read something interesting in Pharmacist's letter...Since we all know that it is often difficult to teat IBS since there is varying symptoms, clinicians are trying acid blockers for more and more patients. A lot of people found that adding prevacid, prilosec, nexium, etc. decreased symptoms and severity of IBS. They think that the increased acid secretion after eating causes some people to have exaggerated intestinal motility. I do have to say it has made a difference for me. Worth a try for some out there. You should notice a difference within 3-4 days.
