Recently chanced upon an article in the paper about maintaining the pH balance. I mean it's recommended that it be 7.4. It's recommended that alkaline food : acidic food should be 80 : 20.Well, I am trying to ferret out more info on this. Luckily , it seems , those debunking this theory are in an infinitesimal minority..I mean atleast on the web, I found only one debunker. Now, what Jan has written does make sense, since the foods he tells us to avoid are all acidic. If any of you is conciously trying to maintain the pH level at 7.4 , please do let me know.Thanks,Jay.

This is plain
Blood pH is around 7.4 and it's maintained automatically by the body independent of what foods one consumes. One would have to have a medical problem (unrelated to IBS) or consume something grossly out of the ordinary to alter blood pH. Such an alteration would make a person very ill.

Jay, have to say that Flux is right on this one. That doesn't mean, though, that lowering the amount of acidic foods that you eat might not help IBSers -- just that it won't effect the ph of the blood.I have to say, though, a great response! Now we have two funny picture posters. Better watch out or comedy central is going to want to make this board into a show. BackFire44
