Hi all, I would like a little advice on something I am already worried about now which is making my IBS symptoms really bad. I am going to meet a lady from Turkey we have been in contact now for over seven months and both decided it is time to meet each other in the flesh, we get on very well she knows about my IBS and all is fine. The thing is I am already panicking about the food will my IBS play up and spoil the holiday and the meeting of a girl I am very fond of? I have frequent diahorea in the mornings which is normal for me but have been told by my friends that I have to be careful what to eat and also by all measures not drink the water, my lady friend is very good and understanding about my IBS but I am really panicking about the trip, I booked it up only yesterday and have become more agiated by the day. I keep telling myself this should be something to look forward to, a possible new relationship and a trip for a holiday but I just cannot see my way past my IBS being a problem. I want to go and meet her but in another way I want to stay home where if I am ill then I am at least in my country. Do you think I am silly to get so worried?

Hi nerfmom, Thanks for the advice yes it seems I was thinking the same way, a friend is coming with me and he has what I call a cast iron stomach he still got sick travelling to Turkey when he forgot about the salad he had out in a smaller restaurant, he told me he was sure it was the water the salad was washed in that caused the problems. I like chicken but am worried about the bird flu

Hi Sun, Yes I realise you cannot catch bird flu from eating cooked chickens but I am a worrier. I always buy bottled water when infact I go anywhere in Europe, the good thing is the lady I am meeting is very understanding and knows about my IBS, we have hit it off big time and are in constant contact, I am looking forward to meeting her and asked her to look after me, I do not want a bad stomach all the holiday although I come to expect it now with my IBS. We will see thanks to this board everyone is very helpful and understanding
