HI EVERYBODY! OK SO I TOOK THAT FLEET THING YESTERDAY AT 5PM. AND I WAS SO SICK YESTERDAY BECAUSE I HAD MY PERIOD. THE THING THAT I AM NOTICING IS THAT IBS IS DEFINITELY MESSING UP MY PERIODS, B/C SINCE I TOOK THE FLEET YESTERDAY, I WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH HARDLY ANY PAIN AT ALL. SINCE THE FLEET HELP CLEAN OUT YOUR SYSTEM, IT HELPED MY PERIOD AS WELL. SO IM HAVING IT DONE TOMORROW, BUT IM NOT REALLY SCARED, I HAD AN UPPER GI ENDOSCOPY DONE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. I JSUT DONT LIKE HAVING THIS DONE WHILE HAVING "IT". ANYWAY, IM 18 YRS. OLD AND I JUST HOPE THAT THEY FIND SOMETHING, BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO HAVE IBS,(EVEN THOUGH IM 98% SURE THAT I HAVE IT). MY MOM GOT MAD OF COURSE, BUT I WISH I DIDNT HAVE ALL THESE STOMACH PAINS AND URGES TO GO TO HTE BATHROOM. IM IBS-C. YOU KNOW THE THING I HATE ABOUT THE PREP, IS THAT IM IN THE BATHROOM ALL THE TIME, AND I HURT, YOU KNOW. WELL I SHOULD STOP BABBLING, AND GO BACK TO WORK. BYE.

Good luck with your colonoscopy tomorrow! I'm 26 and just had one last month. Yes, the prep was awful! I'm really sorry you have to go through it during your period; I can understand feeling kind of weird about it! My doctor is a woman; I think that sometimes makes it a little easier. Anyway, make sure they give you some kind of sedative, like Demerol or Versed (or both). Then you won't feel or remember a thing. I felt the same way; I WANTED something to be wrong with me. But, it looked like plain old IBS. I'm a D-type. It's so funny; my D disappeared about a week before the procedure and hasn't been around for 5 weeks! Unfortunately, my stinky gas problems remain!Again, good luck and take your mother or a good friend along with you for moral support. Hope we will hear from you soon.

Good luck on your colonoscopy - at least the hard part is over. They really need to think of a better way than the prep they use now. Let us know how you pull through

Good luck tomorrow. You'll be fine. I had one just about a year ago and all they found was a little diverticulitis (which really hurts when it flares up), but now I have IBS, too, which seems constant and seems to be getting worse. Went to the Dr. this morning and he gave me Lotronex. I haven't started it yet....am a little nervous. Anyway, hope all goes well for you.

Good luck tomorrow - just enjoy some needed sleep - one more thing - I had a lap chole (gall bladder removal) last summer and I had my period at the surgery. I also got it again only 11 days later and then only 14 days after that - it is a result of the anesthesia - so don't let that alarm you. Make sure you don't wear a tampon tomorrow - that could be dangerous - tell them and they will put a liner under you - don't be shy about it. Let us all know you are ok via the bulletin board ------------<###There's a rose for you!
As the others said - the worst is over. And I also want to stress the medication! I had my first colonoscopy (with many others to follow because my mother passed from colon cancer) last month and it wasn't as bad as I thought. The prep is the worst!Hang in there and write in after the procedure -- if you can stay awake -- rest well-you deserve it!
I don't know if I'm too late to give you this advice but make sure you get the smallest scope possible! I am 23 and I just had one about 5 months ago and it hurt like a ######! I know there are different scopes-make sure you get the tiny one!!! Let us know how it goes!!!!!------------------Let's all find a cure...
Belly:If you ever have to get the test again make sure you get better meds. My doctor is great and is a strong believer in keeping her patients comfortable. I remember very little of the procedure but there was some big time pain - I really didn't care about the pain and almost didn't even remember it due to the meds.Take care!
Lareina,I hope your tests went well. Let us know what they find (or don't find). I can relate to secretly hoping they find something (that's curable of course). It's better than this IBS craziness, but after my tests they diagnosed IBS still and a hiatal hernia (very mild). Good luck w/ everything!
HEY LAREINA: Like they said, when the demerol hits nobody cares about the sh---s..!Enjoy the ride. What did you mean: "MY MOM GOT MAD OF COURSE"? About what?BELLY: YEAH> Next time if it hurts ask them to check the position of the stopcock on the IV, or if they forgot to push the plunger in on the syringe! Thats not necessary! I have had more 'Scopes' than the monkey-trials and it ws LALALAND all the way.
Hi LareinaI, too, had my period when I had my test done. Unfortunately, I had waited over 8 weeks to get the test as we had a nurses strike and it backed up all the tests. I could of cancelled but would of had to wait a long time again. So, I went ahead and had the test. I told the nurse during the prep that it was my time of the month. She handed me an old fashioned belt-styled pad and put me in the washroom to put it on. She told me tampons make the test MORE uncomfortable. I also had a male doctor perform the test and a nurse was present. He did not believe in ansthetic or anything like it. So, I got the test done, the doctor talked to me all the way through it. It was really not that bad and at that point I really didn't care anymore. I just wanted answers to why I felt like #### all the time.So good luck and remember this test is to help find answers. And your moms anger is probably frustration. She doesn't understand what is wrong with you and doesn't know how to help. Try printing out Mollys brochure mentioned on another thread and give it to her after your diagnoses if it is IBS.
