hi--I take allegra d sometimes for allergies. the sudphed in it makes so very nervous!! I get insomina from it sometimes. anyways, I took it yesterday and today my colon is nuts. I think the side-effect of nervousness stresses out my intestines. I dont know what to take now. Im on nasonex and astelin. I wonder if these can cause gi probs as well. Im too afraid to go off these to find out!! let me know on this...art

I don't have allergies too bad anymore, but I know when I do, I steer clear of anything with a decongestant. It makes me way too hyper also - can't sleep, jittery, nervous stomach. I try to take only an antihistamine when I need something for my sinuses. Have you tried that to see if it helps well enough?nancy

Well, I occasionally take Clarinex (used to take Claritin) and after a few days of nervousness, it did calm down. So my advice--take it or leave it--hang in there and your systme MAY adjust. Good luck.(FYI: Right now I only use the Rhinocort nasal spray!)

I had taken Alegra-D I believe two years ago. The most sleep each night was less than 2 hours, and I never felt sleepy or tired for the weeks I was on them. Actually, I felt good. I told the ear/nose/throat specialist, and she switched me to just Alegra, with no D. Jadair---

I have noticed anything with Advil, Tylenol or Sudaphed had caused major spasms and caused D. I try to stay away from the allergy medicines with "D" at the end. For an example, try regular Allegra instead of the Allegra D. The medicines with a "D" at the end contain Sudaphed, and can cause D.

Of all things to take it might be the antihistamine group that ends up being the most help. When we have allergies our bodies produce histamines. So the anti histamine helps releive the allergy symptoms. If you are having trouble with congestion you might try something nasal as opposed to internal. Such as eucalyptus oil in a steamer or a good whiff of some other ointment made for decongesting the congestion like Vicks.While it might not be as acurate or long lasting as a 24 hour medication, maybe you could get a few better days out of the allergy situation by doing some alternative stuff and saveing the meds for the really big congestion days.Hope you find a good answer.Those allergies are a real drag.Kamie

hi--thanks again all of u for input on these matters!! Im just on regular allegra now. I also take nasonex and astelin. both help, but sometimes I need something else as well. oy vay, always something!!!art
