Blech...my anal fissure has reopenned itself and hurts like anything right now. I am having problems even sitting since it feels like there is pressure there. One day I had to wear a pad back there to mop up some of the blood. I am going to the doctor, but was wondering how any here alleviated the pressure feeling? Right now it even it hurts if I move my butt cheeks the wrong way.
I work at a call centre and I NEED to be able to sit to type as I take calls. And..of course, worrying about missing work is causing my IBS to act up. Like I NEEDED bad D on top of an anal fissure!?!?

Hi:I struggle with fissures a lot too. They are so painful and quite debilitating. The best measures to take are to make sure your stools are very soft by increasing your fiber and water intake. Sitz baths are very soothing. If you can take a sitz bath in warm water before you go to work in the morning, you might find a lot of relief. Try to keep the area as dry as possible and make sure you are not sitting for too long a period of time without getting up and relieving the pressure from the area. What has given me the greatest relief is a prescription for nifedipine ointment which helps the area to relax. I have a compounding pharmacist compound .2% nifedipine for me into a gel and it works wonders on the pain.We actually have a wonderful forum for fissures with a lot of members who have great suggestions. Let me know if you would like the link.Good luck. ~JR~
