I think I could really benefit by having a good, compotent specialist help me design a meal plan and figure out a diet.I have used a couple of RDs before, but they weren't great.I was wondering if any of had any recommendations or resources where I could find a good one.In addition to IBS I am on the AS spectrum and I have been struggling to find a diet that would be comptaible with my weight lifting routine.Have any of you been helped by RDs and if so, what's the best way to find a GOOD, compotent one?

I do not know of any good resources for dietitians and IBS. I think that is because there are no real guidelines that have been established for diet and IBS; however, I believe there is some current research that is looking at diet and IBS.If you are willing to be involved in a clinical study related to diet and IBS, perhaps you can search at Centerwatch.com or ClinicalTrials.gov for a study near you.Jeff

Geez that is too bad...nobody here can speak highly or recommend any good RD?Isn't that absurd that we have this condition and yet the professionals who you go to for help are no help?

Early in my history of IBS I had a consultation with a National Health Service dietician. Because of my many symptoms, and the history of the problem, it was decided to put me straight onto an exclusion diet (removing ALL of the known food irritants, then re-introducing each of them one at a time to discover if any, or some, of them are particularly troublesome). Early on during this diet many of my symptoms actually got significantly worse. It was therefore decided that food was not the source of causing my IBS. That was the end of the invovlement of the dietician - as far as they were concerned, their job was complete as the diet was complete in producing a result (albeit negative to my problem). No referals were made to further this route of investigation. The only reccommendation I can make is for you to keep a food diary (record ALL that you eat and drink - and when) and to try a similar diet regime yourself.Baz
