I wasn't able to tolerate proteins for 8 yrs after the beginning of my IBS. Coming from being a competitive bodybuilder, that was devastating news. I laid off it for 5 days per week, then ate alot for one meal on the other two days. That way I kept it in my system......yet that got so old and I never felt strong, energetic, I craved sugars (lack of protein causes cravings), lost muscle and had more trouble losing bodyfat. Now I can eat protein daily again, and it's all for taking at least 2 Metagest with every meal I eat any protein....and I mean any amount no matter how small. I can still only tolerate small amounts, maybe two servings per day of about 2 oz (which is tiny compared to what I used to eat), yet that is all my body will tolerate at this point. I am slowly increasing the amounts (ever so slowly!) as my body adjust to it again. My symptoms were feeling sick, bloated very badly, tons of water retention, headaches, indigestion, irritibility, very slowed digestion and intestinal pain.I may have IBS yet I am also a nutritionist, so if I can be of any help, feel free to write to me via a letter through IBS.Thanks and good luck !!
